We’re living in some crazy times! We were planning for an epic crawfish boil, and then the next thing we knew, we were in a global pandemic! But just like everyone else, we’re learning to do our part and help in any way we can. So we’ve launched a new company making masks – CVR Up!
Working hard and working with our hands is what we do at Texas Counter Fitters! Texas Counter Fitters (TCF) was launched by Andrew Gilbert with two other friends and $3,000 in his bank account. They had to holster their stone against the wall because they couldn’t afford an a-frame. Then slowly but surely, TCF grew and grew to where we are today, being one of the largest stone providers in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. We’ve gone from warehousing a few sheets of stone to making many homeowners all across DFW happy.
As shelter-in-place orders started coming down from officials, orders began slowing. But like many others, Texas Counter Fitters wanted to find ways to creatively support their community. Andrew started researching how to produce face masks that could be used by individuals needing to go out for things like essentials at the grocery store. Then, a few of TCF’s employees mentioned that their wives had been laid off due to COVID-19. And with that, his idea came to life. The community needed face masks, women needed work, and CVR Up was born!
TCF provided training on how to use a sewing machine, provided the material and now CVR Up is up and running and producing 10,000 face masks per week! Our seamstresses can work from home to keep them safe, make money to help their family, and at the same time, they’re helping the community and first responders. It’s a win-win!
“It’s amazing what can happen when the people you bring together feel valuable,” Andrew, now the owner of CVR Up Protective Masks, said. “We are looking for more seamstresses to help us meet demand.”
Last week, we were thrilled to be able to donate 500 face masks to the Garland Fire Department. Donating to first responders is a huge part of why CVR Up was launched. We’ve made more than 20,000 masks so far and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon! In this time when everyone is doing their part to support local businesses, we hope you’ll consider CVR Up for your face mask needs! All of our face masks are made locally with 100% cotton, cotton blend, or polyester blend.

Then you can come by the showroom and call us and we will meet you outside in your vehicle with your masks! For bulk orders, we can safely deliver in DFW or ship.
