This fall, our friends at TACA – The Arts Community Alliance – have a brand-new offering, the TACA Fall Arts Crawl presented by Lexus, a series of three evening events designed to engage every Dallas art lover and enthusiast with something new, different, and immersive for the fall social calendar.
For many years, TACA’s well-known Party on the Green attracted friends of the arts community to come together to celebrate the arts with local chefs and restaurants and an array of artistic performances. Like many events, the Party on the Green was interrupted by the pandemic. Since then, TACA has shifted its focus with an eye to showcasing local arts organizations and artists.
“We’re supporting and channeling the passions and talents of our event hosts, our local arts partners and donors and friends to offer three unique, immersive evenings,” said Maura Sheffler, TACA’s Donna Wilhelm Family President & Executive Director. “We’re focused on spotlighting and celebrating local organizations and artists, creating various ways to support, and having some fun in this busy fall season. We’re hoping that we’ll appeal to the arts and culture crowd and that you can join us for at least one – and possibly all three evenings.”
First up, on the evening of Friday, October 13th, Tara Lewis and Carol March present Knock Four Times (T-A-C-A), a pop-up, after dinner speakeasy inspired by the roaring 20s – Dallas, Texas style! The Knock Four Times VIP ticket experience ($500 each) will begin at 7pm for a unique speakeasy arrival, with complimentary valet parking, and a special reception in the Lexus den. VIPs will enjoy themed cocktails, divine wine, and chef-inspired hors d’oeuvres with a surprise live entertainer. After Hours ticket buyers ($250 each) can join the mix at 8pm and will be greeted by local actors playing iconic historical figures. Guests will enjoy speakeasy sips and a medley of themed bites, an immersive, choreographed dance performance by our partners, Bombshell Dance, and a live jazz quartet from Sammons Center for the Arts. And Tara and Carol have some other surprises in store! They’ll finish the evening off with desserts and boozy ice cream and close up shop before the nosey parkers shut it down!
Next up is Contemporary Mo(ve)ment, an artful evening organized by Sheilon King and Christopher LaGrone at the Dallas Contemporary on Thursday, November 11th from 6pm til 11pm. VIP Gold ticket buyers ($750 each) will arrive at 6pm for cocktails in the Lexus Lounge followed by a culinary dinner experience Texas Utopia curated by chef Justo Blanco of Boxwood Hospitality. During the dinner portion, guests will be treated to an Artist Showcase from two local artists, Hatziel Flores and Alec De Jesus, who will reveal two new works commissioned by TACA and on sale at auction that night. At 7:30pm Silver ticket buyers will join for creative activations from Bruce Wood Dance and a scavenger hunt amidst the Chloe Chiasson: Keep Left at the Fork and Ceramica Suro exhibits on view in the Dallas Contemporary galleries, as well as food and dessert stations and mixology. The evening will culminate with a deejay and dance party with an open bar for Party Ticket buyers ($125).
For the Fall Arts Crawl finale, Deborah McMurray, Kate Newman, and Donna Wilhelm – three passionate supporters of TACA and patrons of Dallas theater – bring you Theater Hits Home, a collaboration with The Dallas Theater Center on Saturday, November 11th from 5pm til 9pm. TACA’s origins as a local arts funder begin with The Dallas Theater Center and we wanted to celebrate our history together with a progressive dining and theater experience hosted at three private Preston Hollow homes. Between 5pm and 9pm, guests will enjoy: fine wines and handmade cocktails; an expertly curated culinary experience in three phases; and a special, one-night-only premiere of a new playlist in 3 acts from Dallas Theater Center’s Kevin Moriarty and Jonathan Norton, resident playwright. Theater Hits Home is the gem of the Fall Arts Crawl and tickets are extremely limited. At this time, tickets are exclusively reserved for sponsor and premium ticket packages.
The majority of entertainment expenses for the series are being paid to local arts organizations and artists. The net proceeds from these fundraising events are invested back into the local arts community through TACA’s grant-making programs.
